Music/Audio Headphones for Commuting

Happy New Year everyone,

Home is PVD, and I'm living in SJU for the winter... that means, at least once or twice a month, I like to commute home to visit family. It's over 6 hours of flying time, and the Apple ear buds get painful quickly... I'm thinking of getting some higher quality headphones, for better sound and to block out the airplane noise (both outside and inside). The Bose QC15s look nice but are on the pricey side; the Bose AE2s are not noise-canceling, but can be had for half as much... do they still do a decent job? Or would I be better with the QC15s?

Thanks,

-Joe

QC-15s. I have a set and love them. Makes the world around you go away. Then add the U-Fly-Mike. Most comfortable aviation headset ever. Just read about the TSO issues if you airline requires that.

+1 for the QC-15s. Had them for over a year and they are worth their weight in gold, especially if you are on a 777 flying from HNL-ORD with a screaming toddler four rows behind you for the entire flight. :bang: I threw them on, turned on my ipod and slept like a baby. Just got the A20s for Christmas, and Bose sends you a pair of AE2s for free with the aviation headset purchase. Nice set head of headphones, but they are not noise cancelling like you stated. Having tried them both, I would definitely recommend the additional cash up front for a top quality pair of headphones. The QC-15s will also reduce the wind noise on airplanes in general, making the flight less fatiguing while sitting in back. Enjoy PR and 9K!

I would recommend a set of B&W P3 or P5s they are PNR headphones but very comfortable and the sound quality is superb. Plus they are close to the price point of the Bose.

Survey says... QC15! Thanks for the quick replies everyone, looks like I know where my Christmas/birthday cash is going this year. Hopefully it'll make commuting a bit more enjoyable. I've already got the A20s for flying and still have my DC H10-13Xs as back up, but the UFlyMike seems to be a relatively inexpensive addition that would turn them into an extra passenger headset if I were in a 172 again.

I picked up a set of sennheiser mm-450's. unfortunately I can't compare them to the Bose, but as far as features go in my opinion they beat the Bose hands down. Bluetooth, rechargeable battery, compact, it has external microphones so you can use it to talk on the phone, talk through feature (press a button and it automatically pauses the music and feeds external noise to the headphones so you don't have to take them off to talk to the flight attendant for example). oh and noise cancelling
Ps. I paid less for these than a set of qc-15
