Multiple Kidney Stones

Back in December I went to the Emergency Room while passing a kidney stone. I had no clue what was causing my pain, but I knew something was wrong so I went. After a CT scan the Dr told me that I had a few small kidney stones and that I likely passed one into my bladder at the hospital. They shot me up with some Dilaudid and put me on cloud 9 for an hour or so and then I was pain free.

About a month later I had the same pain again so I went to see my family practice Dr.. The Doc ordered another CT scan. The Doc called me later that day and said that the scan was fine and that I might have just had some really bad gas or something.

Well, here I am trying to get a medical now and per my AME's request I gathered all of the reports and films from the two scans and my ER visit. After reading the reports he told me that their are 3 small stones on my left kidney and 2 small stones on my right kidney. (wonder why the 2nd doc said the scans were find?)

Anyhow, my AME says I will need workup from a Urologist now. I imagine he will want a 3rd CT scan to hopefully show the FAA that none of the stones have moved since December. Hopefully!

My question is concerning the number of stones. I know that one stone isn't so bad, but that just 2 will require a complete workup for the FAA. How likely am I to be getting my medical back anytime soon?

I didn't have as severe a problem as you, ended up passing three but it was a one time thing, so I don't know. I didn't have any problems. It looks like your case may be far more chronic so that is where the problem lies and wants the opinion of the urologist.
If that helps great, if not just my .02

Yes it will. As you know after having one, the pain can be incapacitating and interfere with safe operation of an aircraft.

If the Urologist does another scan and it shows that the stones have not moved, do you think I will be able to get my medical back?
