Multi engine time building strategies

Of course the problem is that I don't have a lot of money. I am trying to build up multi time to get my MEI and my CFII. So I figured as I'm working on my CFII I'll be flying a multi building time. But the problem is that I can't find a school in the lower southeastern states (Kentucky & below) that has cheap enought rates to build time. It would be great if I could find an airplane for around $160/wet. So if anyone knows of any flight schools that have somewhat those rates please PM me...

I'm dying, please help............................................

Hey...I'm not sure how it works for civilians, but the Maxwell Aero Club at Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery AL (Air Force Flying Club) is offering a Cessna 310R for $60 an hour and a Piper Aztec for $50 an hour. This of course is the DRY rate.

Who know...give 'em a call ((334) 953-7342)...they might be hiring!

Good Luck!

Well, I am in the military (NAVY!) so that might help out though. THANKS!!!!

Yep, the airforce aero clubs will be your best bet. Most will have a multi for instruction, and they'll be dirt cheap. But make sure you do a good preflight EVERY TIME!! They're dirt cheap for a reason!

Well I am active reservist now. Just finishing up my term. There really isn't anything to do with my rate, accept sit around all day and eat while drilling.

I did something a little out of the ordinary, I redid a charter companies web site and flew the empty part 91 legs in a navajo to build some time with their permission. It didn't get me as much as I wanted (TT wise, about 10 hours or so) but the experience was good, and it kept me up to speed in the IFR environment more than a mostly primary student load did. Also, that was 10 hours of PIC time I didn't have to pay for :). No I didn't get paid to do it - there was already someone in the plane getting paid - I didn't take someone's job :).

Well, back in the day, there was a place called Ari-Ben that had a cheap time building program. You may consider this.

Also, the freight route is a way to go to build multi. Flight Express/AirNet/Ram Air are all companies that hire low time multi folks.

Good luck, multi time is the make or break time for a lot of people and I think the most challenging hump to get over.

Thanks guys for all the help, I guess the real factors now is to consider lodging for the weekend to pursue the flying. Now do I want to go to Florida or Alabama? I wonder which states generally has the cheapest 100LL? One school has cheap rates only because the planes are dry, and the other one is about normal price, wet. Of course Florida is the better vacation spot, but I just can't make my mind up...
