MU2 starting procedure

Probably some combination of things including hitting a start button and introducing fuel? ;)

Looks like Garrett type engines like we had on the Metroliner. Move Throttles off the stop lock gates, prop levers move to low idle and hit the start button (release after light off)....Monitor EGT. If equipped with SRL computers the engine start is a non event.

Disclaimer: The above info is my recollection from 25 years ago so YMMV.:dunno:

I would assume like any other Garrett: Flight idle on the power levers, speeds low. Hit start. If SRL equipped (the cool auto start computer- well it was cool for 1980's technology LOL), you just monitor the start sequence, and once you pass about 60% and get EGT roll back, you can move the power levers into ground idle. If non-SRL, you must continue to bump the start button to keep the start sequence going (by holding a target EGT) until about 55%.

Yes.... Its been 3 years but I remember... WHat are you looking to learn for? You know you can't fly one unless you have had the Training from Sim COM or Reece Howell.

I flew them 2 years ago...I've blocked the details out of my memory but I remember you practically need to be an octopus to start one of those things.

I've still got my Simcom manuals laying around that you could have for cheap if you're into that sort of thing.

Pretty much what everyone else said. On the older ones without the SRL, you have to hit the unfeather button, the start button and then judiciously use the fuel enrich...then use the other hand to bring the lever up over the gate. Probably the octopus maneuver staledog was referring to. So...where are you going to hide something that loud?

PS. I was under the impression that the SFAR only applied to 135 ops...is that not the case? I could easily be wrong. But we really need to find out because stealing an airplane is a part 91 operation, which would make our interlocuter good to go.

Thanks for the info, Im just killing time at school and that is the only sim I haven't flown yet.

SFAR 108, applys to all MU2 operations... 135 and 91...

I stand corrected. Sorry, kid. You're legally prohibited from flying the Mitsi you're planning to steal. :D

PS. I have an SFAR sign off around here somewhere...and a bottle of white-out. Perhaps we could reach some sort of arrangement wherein I get to uh "borrow" the uh "borrowed" Mitsi from time to time?

Unless you are Boris. Then the first rule is you always talk about the MU2.

You should see me at parties. "So, uh, how do you know Bob?" "The full-span slotted fowler flaps on the MU-2 are a work of pure genius, giving an aircraft with the wingloading of a KA350 the ability to land at KA90 speeds, furthermore the..."

That's about when most people abruptly find something incredibly important to do somewhere else...
