Make Crosswalks Heterosexual Again

What is the current rules for airline pilots regarding doing flight instruction on your days off? Or other flying for hire?

Depends on the company, but at mine, it can't interfere with your current work schedule and you need clearance to fly for hire from the company for the most part.

So you want to give your kid or grandkids dual you have to get it approved "by the man"? If you want to smuggle a couple hundred keys of Bolivian flake you need approval? I thought this was America!

I think if you're flying as a commercial endeavor, yes.

Now you're going to make me look and we're just about to head out for some wine and wood-fired pizza. Gimme a couple hours.

I would imagine, even if it's duel for free to family, you're better off a) getting liability insurance to cover CFI things and b) getting approval so your carrier isn't blindsided should a mishap occur. Plus, I imagine pride would have someone telling everyone anyway so...

This was a whole issue during the Air Line’s various dark days.

I wonder things people have tried to one-up wood-fired apizzapie. I mean there's coal-fired pizza, but WTF?

Maybe "barrel-aged whiskey-fired pizza" or I wonder if "oolong-fired pizza would be good."

Depends on the company but at AS, if it is anything that goes against 117, you need approval. Instructing and DPE stuff does not fall under that.
A fine point often missed from the transition to Part 117 is that 'traditional' 121 is "all commercial flying" whereas Part 117 is narrower—flying on behalf of a certificate holder or a 91(K) program manager is what counts toward 117 cumulative limits.

It solves the flight time problem. Yes, I know that places have liability problems with it.

Still, I am of the opinion that as long as what I do with my ATP doesn't affect my availability for this place as primary employment or compete directly with it, I really should be permitted to do it. I do know we have a way to go request permission for outside flying, I just don't know how readily forthcoming that permission is nowadays.

Your portmanteau just made me laugh until I almost pissed myself! AAAAAAAAAApizzapieeeeee! Ha!

Why don't you hold the administration you voted for to the same standard? You happily voted for a reality TV star who has no real business doing anything in politics, yet here we are. Would I hire somebody with 4 separate 121 failures? No. If they pass the training program and are released to the line, are they fully qualified? Yes.

BTW this wasn't an issue before DEI became a thing. When white males were busting rides left and right, his buddies would look the other way. Now that it might be a black, brown, or woman? OMG UNQUALIFIED AND UNCERTIFICATED!!
But but… the Dow is up 50,000 😏

What will he do if you ever decide to shut down JC one day? I cant really say he would just bounce over to APC. There are hundreds like him over there so I imagine its pretty competitive to get attention.
I hear that he's quite the ShyGuy, over on APC and he can mostly be found in the Alaska forum over there... but that's just what I heard...

If I had a dime for every time I've heard "My friend is a good guy, he's got 7000 hours and no one will call him" when I ask "Have you seen his application?" "No, but he's got 7000 hours" I'd be a millionaire.

And, ‘oh, he just needs an interview so he can explain it.’

And, ‘oh, he just needs an interview so he can explain it.’

A guy I was in NJA new hire class back in the day with has had 3, count them, THREEE interviews with UAL, one with DAL and AAL, two with SWA and JB. His dad was a CA at UAL at the time, and he came with several LORs. He was turned down at all of them, every single one of them. He finally ended up at UPS. He is a white guy, and if you could think of the angry MAGA character trope, this guy is it.

Guess who can't stand DEI...

His battlecry for every single interview was "I have 8,000 hours, all they have to do is let me in the door..."

My fourteen year nephew left for school one morning. Late that afternoon he returned a female, they performed the surgery in the school, apparently...
It was crazy how many times that happened. A parent sent their son/daughter to school. Over lunch/recess they performed the surgery. No parental consent, not even a phone call…nothing. Just an opposite gender child in the pick up line. Crazy.
