Does anyone know about the Pilot Program at Midland College in Texas? Is it the same thing as the school in Farmington? I have almost all my ratings and about to start my CFI's ratings. I didn't see anything about the PACE program at Midland, thanks for the help

I *believe* it was shut down - conflict of interest or something like that. I'm not totally sure but I heard it through the grapevine.

The only place you can do PACE is at Farmington.

I don't know if it's still in operation either, but the only thing you can do there is an ab inito program... So if you're about to start your CFI stuff, you'll still have to do your private, instrument, and commercial all over again (and pay for it) if you do the program there at Midland.

How is the program over at Farmington?I know it's not a good time builder. I know you can't put a certain percentage on it, but if you do the PACE program how long does it take from start to finish meaning you have a flying job. What happens to the people that don't make it, what happens then are they out that money and have to find a CFI job somewhere or does the school help them?

I am looking at this route, and it sounds like a good program next time I fly into there I would like to see what the program is about

The PACE program itself consists of ground school, flight training in the Baron, and the JetSim. Ground school and flight training in the Baron runs concurrently and lasts 3 months. Your start date for JetSim depends on when you complete your flight training.

So short end for completing PACE is 3.5 months. Long end for completing PACE is 6-7 months.

You are only guaranteed an interview if you complete the program in good standing (no C's only Bs or higher). There is no specific length of time that your interview is supposed to occur. It may happen immediately or you may wait a few to several months for your interview with Mesa Airlines. It depends on whether Mesa is looking for pilots. At this point in time it appears Mesa is hiring to fill attrition not growth.

Those who didn't make it - well they need to find some other way to get where they want to go. MAPD is not obligated to assist them in finding a CFI job and nope they don't get their money back.

See my other post in "For the skeptics out there" about the stats for the Spring 2005 PACE class - it does not include the 15 Spring 2005 Ab Initio class graduates if you are interested.

I just recvd a packet today in the mail from Midland College, as I was looking thru it, this school has a Professional Airline Certificate (PAC) program. It states

"The Midland College PAC Program is an opportunity for an individual to complete their final preparation for interview with Mesa Airlines. "

To qual you must have
250 TT
min associates degree
good driving record
first class med
drug test
phys test

You'll receive
5 hours instrument refersher (FTD)
10 hour in a twin FTD
12 hours of BE-55 Baron Traning
40 hours in JetSim 20/20
High perf aircraft familiarization AIRP 2346
Guaranteed interview with Mesa Air Lines for a 1st Officer Position upon completion of this program

It will take one semester in length (4 months)

Does anyone know how this differs from the PACE program? Or is it pretty much the same?

The total cost of this is $10,969,

Thanks for the info

I think the PACE A (already have a multi) program is 5 hours baron and 7 hours sim total (it's 20 baron, 15ish sim if you don't have the multi). So that might make a difference. However, MOST people exceed these minimums, some by a considerable amount, depending on their proficiency coming in.
