Moving In

I'm going to have to move into Purdue in August from New York. The thing that sucks is that I am about a 14 hour drive from Purdue, and It would mean my parents would have to take a lot of time off from work to drive a roundtrip. It would also be very tough for them to drive out, then basically turn around and drive back here. I know there's a few people here from New England that go to Purdue. How did you guys get your stuff out? Is it possible to fly it out? That would be the most preferred mode of transportation.
Also, I am lookingm forward to meeting some of you when I move out in August. Thanks

Brian

I just took whatever could fit into a suitcase (or 2 of them) and bought everything I needed out there. During the summer I would store my stuff in a locker and that seemed to work.

Since it looks I won't be returning to LAF in the fall, I'm going to have to find a way to move my stuff back. I got a new Jeep Liberty and it doesn't have a lot of cargo room and I didn't get the tow package on it so I'm SOL if I want to rent a U-Haul.

My roomate and I were from the same town in CT so we drove out with his Jeep Grand Cherokee. Although I dislike long drives, driving seems to be the best mode of transport for college move-ins. I'll be driving out for summer school in about 10 days.

Neil, you need to come back this fall.

I moved in last August from California. I shipped 2 boxes ahead of time to the dorm, then brought just a suitcase with me on the plane. My stuff was waiting for me when I got to Purdue so it made the move-in really easy. I'd suggest flying into IND and renting a car if you're with your parents. Otherwise, there's a service called Lafayette Limo that will take you to Purdue from the airport for about $25.

Neil, come back next fall. Chris and I need someone to live with.

If you're flying out try to take Southwest. I beleive their luggage allowance is about twice most of te majors (3X70 vs. 2X50).
