Moving from Charter(135) & Regional(121) to the Majors

Any ideas on what it takes to move from a Charter(135) to a major airline? Does time and experience factor into ones eligibility? I'm almost certain a Major airline would want their dispatcher to have 121 experience. Though can the transition be made? The obviousness of having Regional 121 experience is almost a guarantee they would hire you, given the opportunity and timing fits. I really love the charter world, the experience is great, the starting pay is great, but I'm not so sure of my ceiling here(talking about those Benjamin's). Granted I've only been in the Dispatch world for only 5 months now, I'm curious to where my Dispatch license will take me. Thanks for all who respond. Really enjoy the community here. Even those turds who like to argue haha.

Your ticket allows the doors in this career to be opened, it is you that will get you through the door.

The biggest thing you need to determine is what do you want from this career and what your final goals are?
Once you have those answers then you can determine the steps required to achieve them

Some people are happy and enjoy working for the regional airlines. Other folks are happy staying in the 135 world.
That is what they want and are happy with the choices they have made.

I can honestly say that at my first 2 airlines jobs (TZ and F9), I thoroughly enjoyed the work, the coworkers and the company. Pay wasn't great but the other aspects made up for it. I would have had no problem staying at either one for my entire career but life had other options.

Remember, just because you achieved your goal doesn't mean you will be happy with the result.

If it is getting to a major airline, yes most external candidates go the regional/national airline route.

Also there are other paths while in dispatching; management, trainer, and FAA Aviation Dispatch Safety Inspector.

Your choices in life are yours and yours alone. This forum is nothing more than advice. The path I took to where I am now will not work for everyone but I am not unhappy for the road I traveled. That in my opinion is what matters.
