Most Dangerous Aviation Tomfoolery

Maybe? It does have a tapered wing. I've flown the I, II, III but I don't remember the overhead rocker switches. When did the rocker switches move up here?

It was an archer, not an arrow.

What if his chute strap got snagged on the aileron and was unable to release? Its nonsense like that that makes GA look bad. If you want to skydive, go to a place that has that type of operation. It only takes a few to ruin it for everyone else! Geesh:dunno:

After 300 hours of flying jumpers, I think this is dangerous. That is the pilot in me talking.

However the appeal of jumping out of an airplane that isn't set for it has a certain appeal.

I like when the pilot starts yelling at the jumper. Umm, he is outside your airplane, deafened by the air steam and the engine running.

The other interesting thing is how as the jumper climbed out on the wing, he caused the right wing to drop. You can see the aileron deflected full down as the pilot tried to roll left, but it kept rolling right. Aerodynamically, not a great idea.

Used to fly jumpers. Wouldn't do that. A Skydiver can do a lot of damage to an airplane. Letting one step out onto a wing is a very bad idea. It's like driving out on a ice covered lake when it's 55 degrees out.

im impressed that you can use mind-reading powers through youtube clips!

call the CIA! theyve been working on that technology for DECADES!!

:rotfl:
It was a way of trying to get you to realize how ludicrous your post was without having to tell you directly.

So not only was there a good chance he would hit the stabilator, but he could have also caused the plane to roll over... Looks like someone is putting that CFI ticket to good use!

Hit the stabilator, I doubt it. Roll the airplane over maybe...

Have lyrics to Blood on the Risers memorized, it was mandatory in our Unit to know that song.

In the 1930's, the Soviets experimented with paratroopers climbing onto the wing of the Tupolev TB-3 bomber before jumping off. I've heard the plane even took off with paratroopers loaded on the wing, holding on to ropes so they wouldn't be blown off. I think the idea was abandoned because the soldiers were too fatigued to be effective after hanging onto an aircraft in it's slipstream for 30-90 minutes though.

That aircraft is MUCH bigger than a Piper though.

I wonder a couple things about this...

How well the jump was planned in advance.
How much experience the pilot had flying jumpers.

It seems as though the answer to both questions is, "Not much." To me, that's what makes it more dangerous than anything else.

I think jumping a Cherokee can be done safely, but this wasn't an example of how to do it.
