Most confusing question on an online application ever goes to...US Airways

I remember that question as well. It caused me some stress but I answered Yes.
For what it's worth I got the interview and the job so it must have been correct.
Just to be clear you didn't have any accidents though, right ;)

j/k thank you at least I'm not the only one!!

Oh don't blame it on Riddle! :)

Even though I think I was smarter, as a 12th-grader, than I was after college graduation.

Yeah but to be fair all the smart people went to DAB - who picks "middle of the desert" over "beachfront spring break central"? Doesn't bode well for future decision making skillz

You going to leave the current place?

Yeah, I was doing the math and it makes more sense. If they merge it will make even more sense.
But mostly, all my family is out on the east coast. That is where I am from and where I want to be. I looked at where I would be in 5 years if I stayed and it would be in a part of the country that is way to far from my family and a place where I could not afford to live comfortably.

Something that always made my decision easier was the financial state of the company. The loses keep piling up and we were told that we would be very profitable by now. So far we have been losing more money this year than any year previously. In fact next month they've already pre-canceled flights on top of the already signification block hour reduction. They figured it would be cheaper to re-book the pax on other airlines than to actually do the flights as planned, that is very unsettling.

Yeah this could both ways but even if they stay standalone I still feel like I made a good choice.

Had the same thing happen to me when I got hired by NWA except my class got cancelled. I don't mean to scare you but make sure you hang on to your current
Job until the last possible second. Nothing's official until it's official.

Placed in a pool for a year. After a year the pool was flushed. Did it help me get an interview with Southernjets? I have no idea and I'm sure it didn't hurt but I know they were under no obligation to hire me or even interview me. There are still more from the NWA pool who still aren't on the Sputhernjets sen list than those who are to my knowledge. My point is only that you aren't hired in this biz until you are sitting in class and your name appears on the seniority list so don't burn any bridges.

Even then it's not unheard of for an entire class to get let go before finishing. It's happened before.

I was in the XJT EWR crewroom one day right around when NWA had just postponed some of those classes. A captain had turned in his two weeks notice on a long sit through EWR and the guy sitting next to me in those recliner chairs said he had gotten a phone call from Northwest during the sit about the class date postponement. He walked right back into the base administrator's office during the same sit and said, "Can I have that envelope back, please?" They hadn't opened it yet.

Then of course XJT did start the official policy of letting someone keep their job if they changed their mind in the two-weeks-notice-zone since quite a few were having that happen at various next-employers.

Anyone know the best route to get an internal recommendation in? Apparently there is an email address or something that they need to go to and my buddy has been looking for that route....

Tell him to get his buddy to use his company email address that every pilot already has. If he is unaware of how to access it tell him to make a phone call to figure out how. It's easy.

I was told they want the recs at the time of interview.
