Morey vs. Wisconsin Aviation - Madison, WI

Hello,

I am new and hope I am posting this in the right place. I was wondering if anyone on here has experience with either of these places for flight training, if anyone out there is in the Madison area.

Wisconsin Aviation is slightly more costly, is part 141/61 and has more air traffic/ATC practice.

Morey is in Middleton so is a small airport, part 61, a bit less expensive. They tell me they fly over to MSN all the time so training in radio operations and communication with ATC really wouldn't be much different.

Those are my thoughts anyway. Can anyone help me decide?

Any comments on particular instructors at either?

I've never done flight training with either of them but I did have a friend that got his private through Morey. He liked it there, but he didnt give me specifics.

I would say that Morey gets more traffic than Madison in my experience. Over the past few months there has been a huge increase in business jets and light twins on top of the flight training that is already done there.

I would try out Morey, but thats just me. Good Luck on your decision.
 
I've done all of my flight training at Wisconsin Aviation (Private, Instrument and starting on Commercial). The diverse group of instructors over there is incredibly knowledgeable and is dedicated to making your success as a safe and competent aviator their top priority.

They've got a great selection of planes from 152's, 172's, Arrows, Warriors, and even a Cirrus SR22. They provide convenient year-round ground schools and their 141 structured curriculum is really well done based on Jeppesen material.

Flying in and out of KMSN prepares you well for Class C operations. It's much busier than then Morey, which can be good and bad. You'll leave there fully equipped to handle communications for both VFR and IFR flights and in out the airspace. And of course, you can always head over to Morey and use their airspace and facilities for short and soft field work on the grass strip.

This isn't a knock on Morey's operations since I'm not familiar with their instruction program - they do have a solid reputation as well. But when it came time to make my choice, I chose Wisconsin Aviation's flight school for their variety of instructors, access to a variety of planes, Class C airspace, fantastic line operations and of course - a great restaurant right next to the flight school.
