Do be careful starting aspirin therapy if you are historically bad at taking your medication, as there are studies out there that show there can be a rebound effect. Wouldn't an IVC filter be beneficial for pilots who have a hx of DVTs?
 
IVC's are not indicated. They should be used only if there is a contraindication to using an anticoagulant such as warfarin. I know many hospitals place the filters willy nilly but that is more about making money than doing what is appropriate for the patient. If I had a DVT, I would personally refuse an IVC.

So can you clarify here? You're saying taking 1 low-dose aspirin every single day is safe, but there may be some ramifications to say, taking one on any day you're going to have a long flight but otherwise not?
