Just an FYI if you receive a phone call with the caller id of:

201-829-1351

Several months back I ordered a cd from the CAPT program just to see what they were selling. It was a nice flash dvd and I was curious as to how they were selling the program.

For the last week I have been receiving calls from the number above but never seemed to be near my cell phone when it rang. I was curious as to who it may be so I looked up the area code and it shows up as Jersey City, NJ. I called the number back a few times and it says , Sorry, this number is no longer in service! Huh !!!!

Well today it rang again and I finally was able to take the call. It turns out to be ERAU and someone representing the CAPT program. She mentions that I had ordered the cd and wondered if I rec'd everything. I told her yes, some time ago. She asks if I am still interested in ERAU-CAPT. I told her no, "I have decided to persue a different avenue for my training". She then asks if I would be willing to visit one of the campuses if ERAU was willing to help with some fo the travel expenses. I reittirated (sp?), that I have decided to persue a different avenue to my training.

As a grand finale she says to me, (DE727UPS will like this one), JohnH, drum roll please................

"What, are you no longer interested in aviation as a career?!"

As if the CAPT program is the only way to go. Absolutely Hilarious !!!

Sadly, they probably don't know a lot about aviation as far as Riddle goes in Jersey City. They're probably hired by ERAU to do calling and have a script or suggestions to go with. That's probably a suggestion on there......

Yea, I figured as much, but just stikes me as a little off the wall. Somebody at ERAU had to o.k. the script or whatever it was.

You mean if you don't want to go to ERAU there are OTHER choices if you want to stay in aviation? Liar! Liar, I say!

Good day all,

My name is Seth Beckhardt and I am a Flight Crew Training Instructor at the CAPT Program. I have been with the program for more than two years and have served in a variety of capacities within the organization.

As you have probably guessed, we have been monitoring the threads at JetCareers regarding the program and I've been given the opportunity to address the questions and concerns about the program. Two ground rules about any submissions or threads, I will not answer personal attacks on anyone at the program and I will not answer any questions about the recently settled lawsuit. Other than that everything is fair game.

With that in mind, feel free to ask me anything and I will answer (or debate) to the best of my ability.

Blue skies and tailwinds,

Seth

I'm game....

Any institution which is really interested in their students having a balanced and true picture if the industry would have a link to Jetcareers at their website. So far, the only one I have seen is a little school called Skymates. Why do you suppose big academies like CAPT, PanAm, ATP, and DCA don't include a Jetcareers in their "industry links" section? Do you think we could expect to see a Jetcareers link at the CAPT website?

Good question. This has been under discussion for awhile at the management level. One of the main reasons for the lack of links to other industry web sites is the CAPT Program is still under the internet and web protocols as mandated by ERAU. We still have to negotiate with our IT infrastructure when it concerns sponsored links. I can't speak for other organizations in the industry.

More importantly, during primary ground labs (Private, Instrument, Commercial and Multi-engine) and throughtout the remainder of the core curriculum (Physiology, Human Factors, CRM and Jet Transport among others), students are required to - on a rotating schedule at the end of each week - research and discuss one aspect of the air transportation industry. Bearing in mind that these are adult learners and who have successfully completed a four year degree program, the topics have ranged from the vagaries of scope clauses to the acquisition of regional jets over traditional Boeing and Airbus products. Also, because we employ a fair number of industry professionals we have a great deal of "on hand" expertise when it comes to preparing our graduates for their interviews and beyond.

Finally, we never discourage any student from seeking out alternate views, such as JetCareers, on the state of the industry.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards,

Seth
