We will see where this takes us. However for whatever reason it just appeared during the news conference to be more of the same old...... Just makes me wonder... They also mentioned one of these guys was the one in charge of finding flight schools..... AKA the reason I figured some might be interested...

Well it's about time. Holding people indefinitely and giving them secret trials isn't what the country I was proud to be a member of was about. If we're going to invade countries and tell the citizens of said countries that our system is better than theirs then lets at least live up to our system.

End rant.

Yeah maing!!!!

Lets see. If they were American Citizens I would agree 100%. But they're not so our Constitution does not apply. I don't want their trials and execution to be turned into a media circus. All I need to know is that they're dead. End of story.

Great, I agree with about half of what you said (which is more then I thought I'd ever agree with you on).

You're right, their trials shouldn't be a media circus, and they certainly will be. Both because the media knows what sells, and our valiant leadership is going to milk this for every little bit they can. That is certainly true.

However, even if they are not US Citizens, the law does in fact provide protection for them. It's part of our legal system, not to mention several international legal systems that we are part of.

Death penalty?? Maybe we should just try to rehabilitate them and put them back into society. They're just sick, that's all.

:sarcasm:

If they're to be tried in US courts, the same standards should apply. The fact that they're not US citizens is irrelevant; the American justice system should operate by one standard and one standard only. The military justice system should be limited to dealing with the military's internal disciplinary proceedings only.

I'm dead against the military conducting these tribunals, there's too much built-in bias there; military people wouldn't even make it past jury selection in a civil trial, so it's obvious to see that having judge, counsel and jury all being military is going to deny them a fair shake. If the tables were turned, and it were one of our guys standing before a war crimes tribunal, you can bet we'd be screaming to high hell that the tribunal be conducted by an impartial international panel.

Well put.. We preach the world about democracy and human rights we should not be doing what we say bad guys do... We shall prevail that way..

We dont owe them anything. Why should they be given the same rights as US citizens when they were partially responsible for 911? They should be given a military tribunal, then executed. period

Im surprised the media is even told about this stuff. I dont really care or need to know about it, as long as theyre being held and tried, thats all that matters to me

Careful what you say. If they can do that to non-citizens, what's to prevent them from doing a rendition to american citizens on foriegn soil to get around US law!

How, bout, because they're human, and are deserving of basic human rights!!! Also, keep in mind that not all of these prisoners have actually be charged with anything, and some might only be guilty of both being muslim, and arabic.

If were gonna perpetrate to the world that we're the good guys, we should walk the walk and definitely talk the talk!

Better yet... since we already are going to execute them.... why waste the tribunal time and just kill em!

about. If we're going to invade countries and tell the citizens of said countries that our system is better than theirs then lets at least live up to our system. I n my humble opinion this cocky mentality is part of what got us into this mess in the first part. I think there is still far too much being kept secret and held away from the general public regarding this issue. Is it true that there was some sort of interworking relationship between the Bush family and certain Middle Eastern entities prior too and immediatly following the Sept 11 attacks? does anyone know if there is any truth to the "mystery flight" that departed from the Florida airstrip while that state was under martial law? No-one has been able too provide a clearcut answer regarding these questions as of yet.

Let's just shoot them on the spot. I mean, who cares about that crazy stuff that only liburl wackos like Thomas Jefferson and George Washington talked about like due process and presumption of innocence and trials?

That's stuff only liburl pansies would care about. Just shoot them and get it over with.

Sound good to you?

If it does, congratulations! You passed the first test to be just like al Qaeda!

It's worth noting that part of our history includes that George Washington oversaw a massacre of Native Americans as part of a plan to "exterminate the Indian threat once and for all." And that Thomas Jefferson was the first to identify and confront the threat that radical Islam and the Koran held for the United States.

I don't think either of them showed much warmth for the idea of affording the enemies of our countries the same rights as the citizens of our country.

And BTW, if you don't know any of that history congratulations, you're a typical American.
