Mooney Airplane Company officials say they now have the fastest piston single-engine retractable-gear airplane in production with the certification of the Acclaim. Mooney says the airplane will cruise at 237 KTAS at its service ceiling of 25,000 feet. The Acclaim packs a 280-horsepower turbonormalized Continental engine and comes with the Garmin G1000 avionics package. With the optional 130-gallon long-range fuel tanks, it can fly up to 1,615 nautical miles while maintaining 200 kt. Mooney expects to begin making deliveries immediately.
 
Sweet! It's couple knots faster than the Columbia, and the Columbia is not retractable wheels. Interesting.
 
I wonder if the mooney website will have ATC blurbs showing how amazingly superfast the plane is like the Columbia did... ;)
 
That paintjob looks like a model rocket I had to make for tech. class in 8th grade.

I've got one on order but probably won't get it till September? I am waiting for one with the GFC 700 and they do not yet have that certified. Can't wait.
 
I'm sure many air traffic controllers will just love that airplane doggin' it up in the flight levels! :insane:

For a mooney, that sounds like an oxi-moron......(sp?) I have yet to see a mooney that has a lot of room it it, but hey it is 2007 so ill have to see first hand what they made..
