MONEY for the flying training

[ QUOTE ]
As someone who spent one semester, and only one semester, at SOSU I would advise you to find a different flight school. The way their program works you first do the private which takes one semester, then two semesters doing the commercial, and after the commercial is when you do the instrument. The vast majority of flight schools have you do your instrument and then your commercial. They told me that they train you on the instrument rating while doing the commercial but you still end up paying for additional flight costs after the commercial to complete the instrument. Not to mention there flight costs are higher than any of the other flight schools I have attended. I am not saying the training is not high quality, only that it can be done cheaper another way. Also if you visit the town of Durant your decision will be made a lot easier. I am also a full time student and and doing my flight training with a flight club in beautiful Austin TX. I found a loan to pay for my flight training through bank of america called the education maximizer loan. It is not done through my school and does not affect any of my other financial aid. It is considered for supplementing the cost of an education. Hope I could give some useful insight.

Oh yeah go to Durant, and spend a full day and night. You will go back to Norman as fast as you can get there. I sugggest picking a different major, and just completing your flight training elsewhere. Then again, do what makes you happy. I definetely could not have done it at 19 or 20 when I lived in Norman, I could barely stay out of the bar long enough to get my work done for general classes. Good luck
