I read what the prelim report stated for weather at Hoonah; VFR.
What Hoonah reports, and where this accident occurred, despite being simply 10 miles away, can be worlds apart with respect to weather.

Exactly. I've personally seen PAOH reporting 10SM, but 1/2 miles visibilities over sisters island that mean no go for a flight.
