Minimums to upgrade at Mesaba?

Seggy was right Mesaba's the place to be. Especially with ATP mins to upgrade. That place is like a juiced up Great Lakes right now.

Meslaba was the place to be in spring/summer 05 before it became the mostest place not to be. I remember when they canceled my interview. That place is boom/bust. They have 2month FO's in class with 2001 hires upgrading at their first chance. :panic:

I hear ya man, this industry is nuts! Its just crazy, i mean borderline reckless:) Shoot, I just gunna strap in, sit back and enjoy the ride, because next couple years is gunna be wild.

Yup, that 5/07 CR9 CA guy was in my class, and is a few numbers behind me... just need some more time in the book. :)

How did he get the 900 so soon? Im guessing its either bad schedules of the senior saab captains are seatlocked. Also when I talked to Mesaba they said everyone upgrades into the saab.

hu? everyone upgrades in the saab? no thats not true. i think MAYBE you mean street captains are hired into the saab. what you asked doesn't even make any sense

why did you talk to mesaba about fo's working for a couple months upgrading into the -900? really? why did that come up. who were u talking to?

I was talking to a Mesaba recruiter in Aug and he said they hire into the 900 and SAAB then whenever you upgrade it will be into the SAAB then you go to the 900. Guess things have changed.:)

small children with an abacus could have told you the moment that a 500 union backed pilot group was going to get 55 new jets that low senority FO's were gonna get upgraded quick in those jets. and they did, and thats why all of them came, and they came before august.

Be easy on him jynxy, I too have told newhires that "its better to get the saab because upgrades go to the saab first...so you'll at least be familiar with the aircraft"

Of course this is the simple answer...the long one would include upgrade seatlocks and flow-up seatlock speculations and on and on to arrive at the current reality of a may 07 hire getting awarded a phantom 900 CA spot.

lol i suppose. i was probably a little more amused at the earlier post that said, "Im guessing its either bad schedules" when talking about the -900. I've got no patience for the "my regional is better than yours" crap and someone that uninformed guessing out loud. also i'm stuck in the hotel for the holiday in msp so i'm a bit short with everyone.

yeah I'm spending my second night in the same hotel...suited up twice only to sit in the lobby and find out that our flight was canceled...again!

Well, to be honest, the CR9 schedules in DTW do kinda suck right now... 11 days off with only MBS highspeeds? (that was one of the CA schedules for Dec.) That's not what senior Saab CAs are wishing for, I've even heard a few guys say that they're waiting for the schedules to get a little better before making the switch. Add to that the seatlocks and flow thru freezes, and it becomes more clear as to how someone with 5/07 seniority can hold 900 CA.

However, I wouldn't expect a 1/08 new hire to be able to hold CA in the 900 as quickly. But who knows.

... yeah the t-prop vs the jet schedule is different. its not at all uncommon for the t-props to get more days off than the jet guys. you would need to compare that -900 schedule to other -900 schedules at other carriers. that will tell you if your -900 schedule is bad. comparing a t-prop schedule and a jet schedule is apples and oranges. t props do more legs, more hours and are away less time from home. i mean thats the job. 4 months into my first t-prop job i had 85 hours on and 16 days off.

i don't think he was comparing -900 to -900 schedule. i don't think he was talking about QOL for the pilots either. i think its pretty clear he was shocked that the FO upgraded that short of time which if he'd done his own research he'd have seen that. mathmatically how are all the jet fo's and all the saab fo's gonna upgrade into only one type with the kinda growth we are seeing? get done with capt IOE on the saab and then right back to msp for the -900? hire street -900 capts?

What do you think the Reserve and Upgrade time for a Feb 08 guy would be. I will be on the CRJ 200 in and start ground school on feb 25th?

Jet CA is not going to go much more junior here it is going to back fill. 49 saabs = 270 CA's, 53 jets = 290 CA's. 220 Jet CA's exist after the last award prior to seniority # 400. There are still ~ 190 Saab CA's that can hold the jet and are not seat locked. I would assume 70 will when the time is right for them. If you get a Jet CA slot and your # is in the 500's you will be looking at 11 days off for a LONG time. Of those 290 atleast 150 are lifers. You have to roughly be 30% to hold a line so that doesn't leave a great schedule for the mid list guys who hold the Jet.
