Minimum runway for RJ operations?

...CL-65's to the operation there, virtually overnight regional depature would instruct us to climb at 250 to 280.

Ouch! that hurts.

When they make us do that, we dial in 250 kts and leave in "climb power." With any luck, we get above them before ATC asks us to level off......and wait..........and wait........
You REALLY get slowed down going into ATL. Nothing like a flight that you never get "Normal Speed."

Yeah well the CR2 will outclimb an A321, so we've got that going for us...

Almost anything will outclimb a A320 series aircraft. They have a nice wing but there engines are very low rated. 28,000 lbs. of thrust I believe.

I've jumpseated a few times into and out of MDW on ATA in both the 737 and 757. Awesome to watch these aircraft operate at that airport.

It's all about the wing (hehehe) the 757 has a very good one and also englines rated at like 42-45,000 lbs. of thrust. The 737NG has an awesome wing. I think the 737 Classics from WN often see that gate coming really quick.

What is the longest rwy. at MDW? This morning I saw a FED-EX MD-10/11 take off I'd imagine fully loaded on 7R and that runways is only like 7800 ft.
I also sometimes see UPS and ABX 767-300's take off on 7R at 5:30am. So why is the 757 the largest plane allowed to land/take off at MDW?

220kts to 10,000, then 220 minus 2 kts per 1000' up to FL240. That's a 192 kt climb at barely 500fpm to make 240.

The old Lockheed Electra is an amazing plane though...

NOTE: may be offensive to some people!

A local retired AA captain calls the 757
"A skinny women with big tits"

Its also his favorite to fly

Now Im trying to figure out just how this relates to the orginal post hmmm..............

uh the 757 compared to the RJ has lots of power with really really big engines

Weird! I didn't know you couldn't say [censored] on the website!

I know when we started operations at DFW we got a memo saying departure wanted 290 or better above 10 whenever possible for traffic flow. Not a problem in the ERJ if you don't mind climbing 1000fpm most of the way up. Heck, I once complied with "310 or better in the climb" out of IAD ... granted, it was at 600fpm.

How much thrust do your AE3007s put out?
Ours have 6400-6700#.....I guess we go a little faster with 42 fewer seats.

Around 8200#. The XR is a bit higher, with better climb ability, range, cruise speed and performance. Still no X though!

The 319 jams out quite well, and the 320 isn't too bad. The 321 is just a pig.

OK I had to read this 3 times because you switched airports mid-paragraph. The longest runway at Midway is about 6500.' That might be why the big boys don't go there with a load. Also might be local airport restrictions.

ABX only flies the 767-200, not the biggy. UPS flies the -300.

I know that Skywest Chris flew his CRJ into St George,UT for an airshow. We don't normally do it because its on a cliff and runways too short. Ask him!
