Military midair over Idlib

The other day. Two US MQ-9 Reaper drones somehow managed a midair collision over the town of Idlib, Syria. Some reports that they were engag d by ground fire, but internal reporting reports it as a midair. Most curious how this would even happen.

No reported injured on the ground.

And both crews are safe :)

They’re soooo small and soooo quiet, until this. At least it it took out one of it’s own. Damn bots.

I’m sure the crews will get air medals for staying with their ships to the bitter end.

Somebody didn’t read the ACO....

(Totally just make that up)

I can tell you having worked in the stack sandwiched directly above/below the robots. Their altitude handling is not as rock solid as one would think.

But pilotless airplanes!

It’s hard to imagine a big RC airplane costing 16 million a copy! Ha!

Still safer with the Robots than our other option of being in the same block of altitude as the Iraqi Air Force...

Every time I heard an Iraqi on frequency my eyes instinctively scanned the TCAS display.

A while ago I stumbled on an article that listed off the last things drone pilots said before crashing their drones. I can’t find it anymore, but it was hilarious.

Good. I hate them and they suck.

(This has nothing to do with taking jerbs. It has to do with them sucking and being in the way all the time)
