Military Equivalency

I am retired Navy but I am now flying C-12s on an Army contract. I have heard rumor that you can take the Army training, check ride and flight time to the FSDO and get signed off for the type rating. Does anyone have any information on this?

Type rating for what? You can go get a CME/I but I don't think you can get a type rating (depending on which model you fly).

When I flew C-21s in the Air Force we were able to a Commercial/Instrument equivalency out of Pilot Training. I then got my ATP/Type/CFI with a quick FAA check ride on our aircraft. It required a flight and the appropriate tests, but it was very easy.

There actually is a BE20 type rating. There is an STC to install emergency lights and fire bottles in the King Air 200, which brings it up to part 25 standards. You also get a max gross increase to like 14,xxxlbs. You then need the type to fly it. The C-12 is a BE20 flown at the higher max gross, so I'd imagine he could get that type. I only know of a few operators who use that STC though.
The T-1 will get you a Hawker 400 type, I've seen military pilots with that.

Damn, didn't know that!!
I could have picked up a type for that as well when I left the Army...oh well :(
 
You probably still can. Though I have no idea what the procedure is.
If I had done it at the time, it was just a change of Certificate at the FSDO, now I'm not sure. I'll have to check into it.
