So we're on the same day? That's interesting....and cool.
So what am I doing? Still working. Tried to ask the CO for the day off today (working in the tower as Supervisor of Flying) due to it being my birthday, and all I get is "well happy [expletive] birthday......now get your ass to the tower, before I find something else for you to do....and how come your paperwork from a [expletive] week ago isn't on my desk yet? Which is it...the older you get, the more of a slacker you become; or the older you get, the dumber you get? By the way, who told you to stand at ease? Get the hell out of my office, Daftarian......and get a haircut before you go to the tower.....the Colonel of the F-16 wing [a former T-Bird commander, mind you] is going to be visiting there, and the last thing he needs to see is some hippie mercenary running the flying ops today........how the hell you plan to get selected for Major is beyond me...........and on that note, have you completed your PME (Professional Military Education training) yet? I don't give a rats ass that it was done in correspondence, it needs to be done in residence. Correspondence is the easy way out.....why is it that you're always trying to find the easy way out of everything? And why the hell are you still standing there........................"[voice drifts off as I leave his office]
Thing is, my hair is perfectly within regs.
And doing PME through correspondence is perfectly legal.......not to mention easy.
Hmmmm.
So here I sit. On my birthday. Watching the weather come and go, as flight sup today.......in much the same way my predecessors such as Gary Lopez used to (he was the flight sup at Riddle PRC that would always yell as us solo students...)
This sucks. JC Vegas won't come soon enough.
I understand completely why Mike Lewis bailed from the AF.

I dunno, something about getting even older makes me feel like just staying at home and doing nothing! haha I'm getting lame & boring in my old age...
my day will probably be better than mikey's since i've go the man at home and kitty kats all around me today.. should be nice and relaxing!

Remember how the door would be open, he'd be at the desk, and he'd just stare at you in the doorway? I never knew what to do (it didn't seem like he liked it when you just walked right in), so I used to knock on the door frame to get him to say something.
Of course then it was time for:
"The TAF at your destination is 1 knot above your PQ, you're not going anywhere."
or
"I saw you start to taxi with your flaps still down, that's why I called the tower."
or
"Weren't you the one who started up in front of the admin building and blew all their files everywhere?"

It's just the honor system....If when at NJC or another similar gathering if you have not bought a beverage for someone or had one bought for you.... Then it is time to find the empty hands and spring for a beer or two.
