Happened again last week in ATL, although it sounds like there was an automated warning in the tower that alerted ATC.Yikes...doesn't take much to wander into the wrong runway unnoticed. I saw the infamous Air Canada SFO go-around and looked up at it for a few seconds then went back to what I was doing. I had zero idea that it was overflying the line of departures and not 28R from my ramp tower vantage point as I glanced. Unless the local controller is watching the extended centerline on the radar or its an obvious visual difference when someone isn't in the right place, it is scary to think about how easily ATC can miss this. Really sucks...imagine being all lined up where you are supposed to be, hearing nothing on the radio as far as a wrong runway readback or clearance, then bam, dead anyway.

Doesn't look like an overshoot. The Cessna just missed the localizer antenna. The Piper crashed on the airport.Idk if the Meridian was lining up for the wrong runway or just overshot the final because he had been given a traffic call about the Cessna on the parellel
Yeah I think the Piper just went to the wrong runway. The Cessna was in a right closed pattern for 30R the Piper was cleared to 30L. The Piper made a play for 30R. Tragedy ensued.Doesn't look like an overshoot. The Cessna just missed the localizer antenna. The Piper crashed on the airport.

Tragic Irony?
Oh I think Sheble Northtown is still around...Doesn't look like an overshoot. The Cessna just missed the localizer antenna. The Piper crashed on the airport.
I've been into Las Vegas 50 times, I always go to Henderson, North Las Vegas seems like a scarry place.
Planes operated by those over 75 should have turn signals. The pilot of the Malibu was 84 years old, yikes.
And a second set of controls.Planes operated by those over 75 should have turn signals.
Unless there’s a son or grandson keeping a hand on the yoke it’s probably a sad Cat’s in the Cradle story. And a second set of controls.
Nah, it would just be left on for the whole cruise.Planes operated by those over 75 should have turn signals.
Yes, thus identifying the advanced age of the pilot.Nah, it would just be left on for the whole cruise.
