The science is valid. Most Biz jets and large twins have them. A buddy of mine installed them on his Super Cub and the thing will darn near hover in a light breeze now. The two big benefits are the increase in MGTOW and the improved controllability through the low end of the flight envelope.
We put VGs on our Velocity and they do work, the sad part is the price of that kit in the ad, when I bought them it cost me $125.00 for the VGs and the templates to install them, of course being in the experimental category we didn't need an STC.
We've got em on the -72 series of aircraft. Does weird things to the mach tuck charachteristics, but allows for the same takeoff weights as the longer bodied aircraft because of bow wake "differences".
