Metropolitan State University Denver,CO

Bringing up an old topic, but I have some input on the subject.

It is now Metropolitan State University of Denver. The name was recently voted and agreed upon. They are working to get the name changed on the websites, emails, etc.

I currently attend Metro, and I love it. Very cheap tuition, and very open to getting your training done anywhere. Also, the simulator classes are very helpful and will count towards your flight training, so that makes flight training even cheaper.

I am also on the flight team, and its the best decision I made coming to Metro. It isn't your typical college, being a commuter school, but joining the flight team is a great social group. You're around great people that are into flying just as much as you are. They aren't about how many rivets are in a 152 tail, but (when we do get to business) we focus on aircraft ID, flight planning, CR-3 computers, and more. Its a good way to hone your skills and a great way to network. We also do volunteer activities, such as partnering with CABA and flying Christmas presents. Competitions are always a good time, too.

I hope your guys didn't get a poor representation of the flight team before. (Don't tell the Embry guys, but I think we have the most fun as a flight team)

No reason to not keep this old topic going!

It's a great school, I recently graduated and have a lot of good things to say about it. It is not completely comparable to UND or Embry as all the flying is on your own. That is not a bad thing at all; you have a lot of options all around town for quality, competitive priced instruction.

Great instructors, excellent sim lab. They no longer have the affiliation with United (they used to have a DC-10 sim) but its better now than it used to be. If I remember right they have about 16 frasca single engine sims; all with 430's and talks of adding G1000's to all of them. Two frasca twin sims, also with the 430. 3 ast 3000 multi engine sims, all well equipped. a few frasca B1900 sims, and a big "advanced sim lab" that is basically PC based sims.

I don't know much about the A&P minor, although I do think Bruce Christian is in charge of that. He's a crotchety old guy that as a reputation of being a hard ass. Take some time, get to know him and you'll find out really quick that he is a great guy. One of the few instructors there I keep in touch with.

And yes, it is Metro State University of Denver, it's a recent name change to try to sound a little more prestigious.
