Those are nice pics...

I didn't care much for 473... or it's sister turd 476. The only thing good about them was the heat in the winter. My personal favorite was 428MA, but unlike the AF sisters, the heat in that one sucks! I froze my ass off in that plane all during peak last year, while citabriapilot staked his claim on 473 and stayed nice and toasty. :)

428MA in Elko last fall:

Ah, yes, she was mighty toasty. Of course you had to bring a heat shield for you knee so it wouldn't melt off...

Although now they all suck... Give me an APU and packs any day!

Back in the day I would have taken 556UP over any of those dogs! I think someone hit a bird with it recently though so it probably flies crooked now... what a shame

Maybe slightly crooked, but pretty good considering the damage that was done to it. I liked it a lot better than some of the others... that flat floor with the fixed center rollers was niiice, especially on my DHL run where I didn't have to crawl back there to help out. I think behind 428, I have the second most hours in 556.

I liked 573G, too. Ironically, I flew it to Alaska when I was on IOE, then less than a year later, I flew it for like a month straight all over the eastern U.S. and Canada after I transferred to CVG. Those old birds get around!

Pat up in Burbank has the first one as his desktop wall paper. I always thought it was one of the best Amflight Metroliner pictures out there and wondered where he got it from.

Well just got the request the other day. First of the year class date with two other pilots. No guarantee when the next 1900 opening is maybe feb or six months from now but they will take me to metro asap after peak. I need to make my mind up soon.

We just got 573G at DFW and all the Metro guys hate it... What did you CVG guys do to it?!

I don't know... it is a little "different" than the rest though. I just got used to it having flown the Ottawa run in it for a few weeks straight. Awhile back before I left, someone told me it was going down to San Juan... guess not.

Take it from me buddy. Don't count your eggs before they hatch. It doesn't look like the brasilia thing is happening anytime soon for me. There have been talks of being in the January metro class. It looks like it's pretty filled to me.

How did anyone pry that plane out of BFI? We used to see it in OAK at night and the unwritten rule was to never down it anywhere but BFI just to make sure it never left their hands. That plane was like the flagship of the AMF metro fleet...amazing to see how much things change in a couple years..

They always seem to have one of the better planes floating around and they definately hold them if they can. I was flying one of the cleanest metros in Portland that the company had very reliable for a metro. It was funny that maint said that if bfi had a breakdown that they didn't want pdx to give them that plane incase it didn't come back. Bfi works planes hard. They finaly got that plane after they needed another metro for a new run and supposedly there is a thing that if a base is giving up a plane its supposed to be the best that way the new base doesn't get something that they will have to spend days working on when they might really need that plane to be functioning as soon as it gets there. Good stuff.
