I got this e-mail also. Question for anyone with a little back ground in law. This is unsolicited mail, I never gave MESA my e-mail address. Anyone else see where I am going...I would personally love to stick it to them if we can???

$5700 for a captain? Not so good really when you consider you are working as an Expat. Also, the $1200 housing allowance a month is a joke. To live in anything other then a trailer, expect to spend 2 or 3 times more.

In China, that will go a long ways. Someone who makes the equivalent of US$18,000 over there is relatively wealthy from what I understand so roughly $60k isn't bad. BUT, from the expat point of view, it's not obviously. And I certaintly wouldn't take that myself unless it was at least two times that...

One of the CFI's from Pan Am posted about this...they're making $24K and living quite well.

I believe, also, that working as an expat has some tax advantages as well - 60K+ in their economy with tax bennies PLUS a housing allowance for a couple of years sounds like a pretty sweet package for someone looking for an adventure. Were I younger and without certain other obligations, I'd be all over this like white on rice. Pardon the pun.

It says 3 bedroom, 2 bath. What it DOESN'T say is you're probably sharing that place with 5 other people.....

Also be very wary of the statement " Interested persons will be considered for upgrade to B-737NG service at parent company (Shenzhen Airlines) upon completion of contract."

I can't count how many times I've seen statements like that when it was really just a hook to get you over there. Maybe it's for real, but I wouldn't count on that at all.

BEFORE YOU GO TO MESA

This is how a fair offer looks like. Look at the money and the time off. Forget Mesa.

Yeah 5700 a month will let you live like a king in China. My friend at Pan Am China is having the time of his life and living very well on 24k a year.
