Mesa? Can someone please explain...

It just seems like everyone always dogs on Mesa pilots. I heard some airlines even deny them jumpseats.

I think that alot of pilots might disagree with Mesa, but more so with managment vs. the pilots.

Much like I was informed that SJS is mostly on internet forums and not in the real world. Hatred for Mesa pilots is probably only found on flightinfo!

Hatred for JO, is everywhere!

Everyone dogs on everyone, even Southernjets pilots.

Probably the only people getting denied jumpseats are from people who really don't understand that the whole "Freedom Air" thing is over, at least as far as I know.

And the real question is how DAL pilots feel about them in comparison to CMR pilots. :sarcasm:

I do my best to stay out of the drama. It's all fun 'n games until you realize, "Holy cow, I've got friends over there (wherever 'there' is) that arent' any part of the drama and are getting screwed by this"

The guys who are getting denied now and then must be on the scab list from the freedom incident. Some captains carry that list around.

I think people dog on Mesa (and not just on FI) because there is a preception that they took a really bad contract and lowered the bar for the industry. While that may be true (there contract has holes so big you could drive a CRJ900XL through) they did it mostly to recapture the Freedom flying and prevent an alter ego carrier from exsisting for MAG ever again. Fair trade? Not exactly, but it did end the Freedom A list mess. Now they are left with that contract and nothing else.

That said I think there is (or was anyways under their old MEC) a mentality that they couldn't do anything about it and the company abused what little rights they had.

My .02 from the outside looking in.

There will also be the occassional idiot who thinks that Mesa's Go! airline in Hawaii is the same as GoJet Airlines.

The Mesa crew that gave me a free ride on Monday was cool. Jumpseat "wars" are stupid.

If I could ride on anybody, I would be happy. I'm a little cheesed at the fact that Mesa has come out here and is attempting to drive established airlines out of business but that was a management decision. As far as the pilots themselves, I have no problems with them. They sound just like everybody else out there and they work for the money that pays Key Bank just like I do.

Personally, I highly dislike Mesa Airlines. I really dislike what they are doing to Aloha and Hawaiian out on the islands right now. That was just the icing on the cake for me in regards to my animosity for Mesa. I think their CEO is a scumbag, and the whole management team is worthless.

That said, I have absolutely nothing against their pilots. I know they got a raw deal in terms of their contract, and it is a shame the company will not honor it. I would never deny them the jumpseat. I even say hi to them in the terminal. ;) We will probably all be working for the same airlines some day anyways, why hate on fellow pilots?

I will say some of them need to take a bit more pride in their uniform, but that is not just a Mesa issue... that really is an industry-wide problem.

I think the hatred towards the pilots can be out of hand, unless, it is a pilot that is on their knees for JO - then it's all fair game.

It's not fair for crews that are being played by JO to have to put up with being badgered by another company's crew. All have a table to put food on in some form or fashion.

As much as I'd love to see all the MESA air crews leave the job, there would be 200 hour wonders filtering in to take over.

I said that one time about pilots one time and am still sore from the lashing I took. Good to see someone else noticed it as well.

I dont really know exactly whats going on here but if its pure competition than I see no problem with it. Airlines need to be able to differentiate themselves to their customers (the majors).
