I just found this browsing on the net, Apparently Mesa air is offering up to $10,000.00 sign on bonuses to applicants with previous UA express experience, here is the link to their website:

Dangit! I was hoping it was for pilots. Else next vacation, I'd interview, get hired and then quit before vacation's up! :)

It'd be a good ego boost for MAG. "OMG! Someone quit Southernjets to come work for us!" meanwhile, I didn't resign, got the big fat check and went back to work at Southernjets! :)

I know what everyone might say. But why not give that $10k to first years pilots and maybe up pay as a whole for the entire pilot group. Not only will it attract more talented pilots, but MAG wouldn't have a severe pilot shortage or have to resort to stupid promos like this to steal qualified pilots from other regionals!

Dunno, just a thought!

Nah, give it all to me because I'm swell.

Seriously, if "Phoenix's very own rebel airline CEO" (as per Channel 15) would open up meaningful contract talks, negotiate and hammer out pay and benefit increases for their pilots, it'll solve staffing issues overnight.

Self-induced "pilot shortages" are easy as pie to solve. Kick down some bennies and kick down some duckets and they could attract all the qualified pilots they'd like.

That's a start, but it would not solve the problem. The pilot group does not trust management because of the constant and flagrant abuse of the contract. In my time as an ALPA volunteer, I heard about quite a few situations where the top brASS basically said "Well, we'll do whatever we want, and they can grieve it."

That company is a LONG way from solving the staffing issue.
