Mesa Air says to fight Delta plan to quit contract

If JO can get rid of the ERJs then it is just icing for him. He already wanted to draw down the 50 seat RJs. Send the ERJ crews to CRJ class and solve most of your staffing problems in one fell swoop. There are rumots that TSA will be taking some of the ERJ's off JO's hands.

THIS is the problem when the most vocal (and publicly experienced) supporters of a cause are militant.

I really don't know why I bother. Don't worry, I'm no where near taking my ball and going home, but a lot of the crap getting said in the past few months is just beyond belief.

:yeahthat: x 1000

I feel bad for the people as a group, but the has to be accountability for where you choose to work. If your company is poorly run and close to the bottom in moral due to work rules and staffing it will only be a matter of time before it implodes. So don't go there. Its no different than saying do you want to play for the Devil Rays or the Yankees. This might actually help all the people who are there have a better place to work by putting more pilots into circulation and not having to hire to do it.

Due diligence, kids. Because once you're stuck there, you've got no one to blame but the man in the mirror.

We're all over at PCL saying "Yo, Phil! Paying attention, b/c this is us if something doesn't change soon." The pilots here are doing what we can to make the Delta flying run smoothly, but without support from management, dispatch and MX, it's a lost cause. From what I hear on that side of the house, it's not pretty. We're now losing MX guys like it's going out of style b/c they feel like management doesn't care. Instead of ordering parts to fix planes, they're told to extend deferrals and rob parts from other planes. If the four wheels on the bus are pilots, mx, ground personnel and dispatch, 3 of the 4 wheels aren't falling off.....they're already rolling down the highway.

And the spare got slashed...

Eh, not always. Just check out ASA as proof, during their extended contract negotiation process, airframes transferred to Skywest, moral in the gutter, and pilots leaving in droves, and voted the worst DL feeder.

They definitely were in a precarious situation, hell there was a new ASA thread over at FI every 3 mins.

Now that they have a new "industry leading" contract they've became the new hotness in terms of regional airlines to be of the moment.

In fact if Marcus didn't post over on FI there probably wouldn't be any ASA threads created ad nauseum.

Not necessarily disagreeing with you both, just saying not always does that ring true.

Todays loser, is tomorrows winner!

I'd say at least 1/3 of the current MAG roster knew they were taking a job at a shiety carrier. How long did we preach on the MesaHub and here about NOT taking the Mesa job, yet the applications kept rolling in?

The writing has been on the wall for the last 4 years. Johnny is now reaping what he has sown. I still have a ton of friends and MAG and I hope they can get out soon. With the F8 ERJs going to the unemployment line, and the UAX 50-seaters going with them, it's only a matter of time. China doesn't want the airframes. No North American company wants MAG's operation. Johnny will now realize what he has really done.

As I've said before, get out while you can. Go somewhere, anywhere. Get out!

There was alot of talk of Skyway going down the tubes when I was hired. Does that mean I only have myself to blame going there? Sure does. You won't hear me complaining, though. I've moved on, hopefully through a door that will lead to good things. I think alot of people look at it that way. So please don't bash people in general, for who they work for. These are tough times. Unless gas comes down or ticket prices go up we're likely to see more casualties down the road. We're all in this together.

Delta says it wants to cancel the contract because Mesa's completion rate is lower than the minimums as required by the contract. If that was all there was it would be pretty open and shut.
Apparently Mesa's argument is that Delta themselves on occasion cancels Mesa flights, for example if they had a choice between cancelling a mainline or a Mesa flight they will of course always get their own a/c out first, and that Delta is including these cancellations in the completion figures as quoted by Delta and that had they not be included Mesa would be within the limits of the contract.

Say what you will about Mesa but if that is true that actually sounds like a very good argument.

Every time I see this thread I get annoyed that someone cut and pasted the bad grammar instead of making the subject "Mesa Air to fight Delta plan to quit contract" at least. I can live with "to quit contract" but "Mesa Air says to..." is just a bit much...

So whats going to happen. I still see the Freedom birds coming and going out of CVG all day. Is it due to stop on May 1st? or are they going to keep flying until they settle the contract issues?

It's suppossed to be a scaled drawback of ALL Freedom ERJ's which includes MCO, JFK, ATL, and CVG. But I think Mesa got an injunction so, no one knows when. The revised summer schedules are due out sometime next week.

If their stock keeps taking a tumble, I think alot of their flying will be up for grabs. Stock closed at .96 cents today.
