Merger Mania... Who's Next?

AA won't merge with anybody. They'l code-share out the wazzoo, and if they get scope relief or break the APA, they'll expand sub-110 seat flying as outsourced flying, either through Eagle or through a third party.

If they spin Eagle, anything could happen. They'd wind up code sharing US as we buy bigger airplanes and supposedly "Go it alone". (Yeah, right.)

AA's not dancing to the same music as everybody else. Very different culture, really, and after the shenanigans with Reno Air and TWA, a list integration is the last thing anybody wants.

Sidenote: Today in the DFW crew room, there was cake! Why? One of our Captains was celebrating his 30TH ANNIVERSARY WITH EAGLE.

I kid you not.

Nerd alert! Write out the airlines for us folks who don't care to learn the abridged versions.

Jetblue and Virgin America;)

Thank you for the aviation nerd translation. :p
:laff::clap::laff: Yeah...I've been called a nerd back in the day. I suppose I should embrace the calling...lol
Okay I am taking my money off B6 now (See that ICAO? Huh? Huh? How cool am I?)
:rawk:;)

I've heard from friends, the same Jblue/ American. AAwants to put something efficient on the md routes... something like a 320 or 190?

Also was told it would happen in 2012, in an attempt to balance the age 65 departures.

Speaking of Age 65, I think I was told "my airline" is going to lose like half of the 12,000 pilot seniority list by 2017.

Maybe at ACE we can have a craps table setup with all the merger odds.

My money is on AA and JB. But if you are right, Delta is basically saying "Silly American, I fart in your general direction!"
HAHAHA I bet Commutair is gonna get bought by either Piedmont or Pinnacle! Watch. I bet it will be next!

I've heard the B6/AA rumors, but how many years were we hearing NWA/DAL before it finally happened? A VX/B6 would make tons of sense since they have nearly the same fleet. Also fixes the funding probelm with VX being 59% owned by a foreign company and cabotage laws. Rumor a while ago was the intial investors wanted their money back from Virgin before they lost anymore. They can't afford to buy even 1% back without being shutdown. Lufthansa already owns a chunk of jetBlue, so they're familiar with the rules. Will it happen? Who knows. If you had told me Sunday night that SWA was buying AirTran, I'd have laughed beer through my nostrils.

I heard once this sub-Saharan Massport thing goes through that Wal-Mart was in early discussions for an all stock-swap for US Airways next. They will install a McDonald's and a hair salon on the entire A-330 fleet, and Lens Doctors on the 767 fleet. They think this will generate an additional $200MM in annual revenue as passengers have been described as "blind or dumb". They're banking on either, really.

Dude! It came to me in a vision! Then they could be both an airline and a trucking company.

See man, you get it. :rawk: Your vision is crystal clear.

Imagine for a moment, Airline Jets and Trucks........................... The concept of the idea boggles the mind, don't it?

On a serious note, I wonder if Southwest Airlines has ever thought about purchasing some other LCC? I believe they should look at AirTran. :bandit:

Is it just me or have there been rumots of Alaska getting bought for the last 10 or 20 years? Seems like they just like going at it on their own. But then again I thought the same thing for SWA.

If I had to guess, I'd see AA going with AS before DL goes with them. Just a hunch though. I can see AA and US though. Since AA/AE has all but abandoned many NE routes, this will be their ticket back in those markets that US serves.
