MEI and CFII in a single check ride ?

I've had students do combined checkrides it's at the examiners discretion though. I don't know why you'd want to do an instrument checkride in a multi it would be easier in something slower and uncomplicated like a 172.

Usually you do two seperate oral exams back to back and than do sort of a combined flight.

I did two checkrides in one flight. Single Add on to my CFI and Commercial. Flew the whole checkride from the right seat. Examiner was fine with it.

It's certainly doable, however likely more cost effective to do 2 hops... one for the CFII in a light single (cheaper, as well as the prep since that would be in a single) and then the MEI later in the day (again, less prep time in the more expensive twin as well as a short and sweet ride for the MEI).

I did the MEI add-on to my CFII (i got my CFII first) and then the CFI in a single day. Wasn't bad at all!

The CFI ride only took like 30 minutes.. MEI wasn't much more than 45.

Where do I go to visit this guy?

I already did the CFII the day before... which was a majority of the day event.

The CFI was the oral pertaining to that add-on (hour or 2) and then the flight which just included your normal VFR manuevers... all of which we just flowed right through.

The guy was a total legend... R.I.P. Built his own airplane to do aerobatics in airshows, had a bunch of black project stuff under his belt with the U-2 program. The MN ANG actually let him fly their F-4's up in DLH (where he was from).

Our DE here pays so much to detail. Which is not a bad thing, but I'm so jealous of people who have orals that are less than an hour. Spend more time drinking:)

True, it is cheaper in a single, but if you need to build the 15 hours of twin PIC required to do the MEI checkride, you might as well do your II training in a twin.

Our DPE would roll the oral into one session, do the flight portion for one test, come down and fill out the temporary slip (if passed), then go up and do the next one. It works good for same day type of things.

He will charge you for two checkrides and you will need to do all the required training (proficiency training really) for each respective subject. The savings, if any will be minimal and the stress double. The best thing to do is to ask yourself if you can handle two stressful checkrides on two very different subjects in one day.

Do able and good luck.

I did my CFII/MEI in the same day... be warned its a VERY long day. Total it was about a 12 hour day start to finish, about 8 hours of which is checkride (considering paperwork, debriefing each checkride, and a lunch somehwere in the middle). I did two separate orals and two seperate rides. Maybe your DPE would work both into one big checkride which would help... but if you fail something what would he fail, both CFII/MEI? This thought was why my DPE chose to do them separate.

I was very spent by the time the second practical came around and it was a boarderline pass due to my mental state and stress level of the day. Good luck to you if you do it, but if possible just do it 2 days back to back IMO. (I did both due to having to fly to the examiner, about 1.5 x2)

I did my CMEL and my MEI at once... the examiner would ask me the oral question for the CMEL, then the MEI answer. Then we did all of the flight stuff for the CMEL and then traded seats and did the MEI.

Was easy.

Did you do a multi-private add-on?
