Medicines

Hi, I just recently found out that I am ADD (mildly) and I am taking Vyvance for it. I am almost 100% sure this prevents me from passing the medical for my PPL. So, I will quit taking it as soon as I graduate from high school. Do I have to stop use for a certain amount of time before I attempt to get my medical? Why is the FAA so against ADD medicines? Vyvance is proven to not be addicting and doesnt give drug like effects it only makes me more aware...I dont understand...

Thanks

You will have to report the diagnosis of ADD on your medical and supply copies of your medical records to the AME to submit to the FAA.

The problem is not the drug in itself, it is the underlying disease process and the lack of ability to concentrate that presents a potential safety issue.

Okay, I was wondering about that. So when I report it will I have to go through all of those tests that people are talking about? Is there a high chance I wouldnt even be able to get a medical?
