medical question 18w.

Ok, so I have to dig up this thread for one more question.

How would my situation effect question U on form 8710 for a new rating? Question U ask: Have you ever been convicted for violation of any federal or state staututes relating to narcotic drugs, marijuana, or depresent or stimulant drugs or substances?

I would assume that an underage drinking ticket does not fall under this, but, I am not sure, hence the reason I am asking.

Thanks

What exactly does question 18w ask? and would the misdemeanor still be on your record from that long ago?

[h=3]The underage drinking ticket does qualify. The question is "have you ever". Don't be stupid and try to hide it - could risk losing all of your certificates for lying.[/h]

Ok, thanks for clearing it up. I really did not think it would have qualified by the way the question was worded.

Now I ask how would it effect the ability to get the rating or take the check-ride? What would happen if I check yes on it, I am sure they ask for a reason, so what do they do when you check yes. If it helps the 8710 is for a type rating check-ride at an airline (SIC).
I disclosed the ticket on the application and they ask me about it during the interview but did not seem to care since it was over five years in the past. They hired me and I start training soon. They sent me a pre training packet that included a partially filled out 8710 with no already checked in that box so I will need to change that. The fact that they sent me the 8710 is what got me thinking about it.

Thanks

It does not qualify for the question on the 8710. There was a FAA response to this very question and they responded no that's only for illegal controlled substances not alcohol. If I can find it again I'll post it. But I had a long talk with the FAA fsdo about that very question because I was in the same situation as you awhile back

If you could find that information it would be very helpful, since I now have conflicting answers. The reason I post here is 1.) I am sure others have been in my situation and 2.) Someone else needing this information down the line may benefit from it. I am considering either calling the FSDO and asking them about this or talking to the recruiter at the airline, not wanting to do either one, it would be great if you could produce the information you speak of above.

You don't have conflicting information here. Doctor was only referring to the question on the medical. He said he doesn't deal with the 8710. I will look for it tonight when I get home from work.
