MedExpress Question

If someone does the Med Express application for a 1st Class and, for some reason doesn't qualify for a 1st, but does qualify for a 2nd or 3rd class, is a new application required? Does it count as a denial that would need to be reported on a re-application? On the paper form, all you'd have to do is just check the appropriate box and initial the correction.

The only thing that would disqualify you for a first class medical and not for a third class medical is the visual acuity. The second class requirements are identical to the first class except the ECG requirement at ages 35 and yearly over 40.

I know that, but it still doesn't answer my question- would it require a whole new application, or can the AME just check a different box? It could, conceivably, work the other direction too: someone goes in for a 2nd or 3rd class and decides to upgrade to a 1st class instead.
