Good money, good benefits and a very well run operation!

These guys are home based aren't they?

Hmmm, I'm thinking....YES! ;)

:sitaware:

not that bad considering some jobs you could have. I'm gone typically 5-7 weeks at a time w/ my current one..

14-18 days looks good.. but i dont meet the criteria. :(

Good point. Its all about what your perspective is. I am away from home more than 6 days at a time.

Funny just noticed this thread...applied today! Unfortunately I don't know anyone there...I'd love to get the opportunity to work there though.

I used to work right along side these guys when I was in the Air Force in Frankfurt. A very enjoyable group to work with, both ground support and flight crews. In fact, it was a WOA pilot that gave me advice to pursue a career as a pilot. I've had many great experiences loading up their old workhorse, N14075. I even put a hole in it once, shhhhh!

Wish I had the qualifications...

Last I heard getting hired at one of the better ACMI/Charter places was next to impossible without jet/glass/crew time. I'll have the MTPIC in the next few months, but I don't think they'll look too favorably on single pilot "light twin" (mitsu) time. I mention this because I'd LOVE to hear differently...

PS. I do know a guy who got hired at Omni with just my sort of time, but from everything I've heard, that's like "working" on a slave ship.

I have several folks there. Family guys to single guys, and they love it.

I heard an internal rec is an unwritten requirement.

I know we have guys that never flew anything bigger than 1900s

Heh, fraid I missed the boat on that one brother. What with all the ATA etc apps pouring in, I wouldn't be surprised if you're eventually flying with FOs with more time than you.

Serious question, ACMI/charter guys...in your humble opinions, what's the best way to become competitive for jobs once the boxes are checked, but one still has 0 hours jet, crew, and glass? My thought was get the 1000TPIC, wait till things get a little bit better (okay, maybe 2000TPIC), bite the bullet and go to a regional as a 6000 hour FO so I can say "yes, I can fly a jet, read screens, and talk to the other guy", then apply. Any advice? I can certainly see one of the better outfits as a career job, presuming UPS doesn't call.

I'm on the same floor you're on. I am trying to figure out how I'm going to get to the next level.

I'm thinking I'm going to get to a 1000TPIC and consider being a brasilia captain here at my company. It wouldn't give me jet time, but I would have two type ratings and crew time.

That would mean another year committment and another new aircraft to train in.:panic:

They wanted to make me an FO in the Brasilia(which would make me dual qualified with the metro) a while back. I could possibly get right into training for that but I'm afraid that it would hinder me from getting that 1000TPIC as fast as I want to get it. I've spent more time training this year than I have flying the line this year already as it is.:)

I've got some thinking to do.

I'd say try to get time, in this order: Jet, Multipilot, JET PIC, Glass. Could be done at a 135 outfit.....carrying, GASP....SLF
