Want to Buy Maule MX7-180A

Tailwheel, side-by-side 4 place, big baggage door, easy and cheap(ish) to work on, company is still in production and they're very easy to talk to and ask questions whenever you want, family friend has owned multiple Maules over the years and is well-known in the Maule world.
Skywagons are way more expensive and heavier. Super Cubs are expensive and smaller. Anything else that's comparable is old and out of production or experimental.
That's all correct. Sounds like you've got lots of TW time. Just make sure you replace the factory wheel with a Scott. And watch out for the light tail. You'll have fun. :) For those light in TW time, Maules can be a handful and generally end up in some degree of endocrinology.

Scotts are good, but baby bushwheels or gar aeros are better if one is going to use a Maule like they were designed to be.

Yeah, no argument. Just saying the factory TWs on Maules can really mess you up... even if you're very good. I've got about 5000 accident/incident free TW hours and I still have few good landings in factory Maules. I do have pretty demanding standards for myself, but still.

I had a Maule tw on my old Taylorcraft, it didn't last long. The Scott is a good compromise. I think the Ak Bushwheels Co makes Scotts now.

Complete opposite. Only had like 10-15 hours TW time when I bought it. The tailwheel it has is an Alaskan Bushwheel 3224 that was installed shortly before I purchased the plane.
