March Airshow

Sounds like a great show. Wish I was just a tad closer.

I too wish I was little closer.. I'm about 2 hours north of March ARB... Oh well should still be fun.

The Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show is comming up May 1-2. It is awsome with everything from B-52 B-1 B-2 F-117 F-16 F-15 F-14 A-10 fly over, to a bunch of Marines hitting the beach in their amphibious assault vehicles with Blackhawk helicopter and A-10 support. Last year there was even an American Airlines 777 fly-by low altitude, with all the stuff out! Oh, and don't forget the Blue Angels. At night they have an F-14 fly over with its afterburner's flamin' (very loud!) followed by an awsome firworks display. I never miss it.

I might try to get out there on Sunday. I'm doing my long solo x-country on Saturday, otherwise I would definately make it out there on Saturday.

LOL. The Thunderbirds and Robosaurus!

Now, all we need is monster trucks, motocross, and WWF at the March airshow, along with the announcer that says "Sunday, SUNDAY, Sunday!"; and it will be a weekend to remember!

Before leaving for Iraq, there was a school bus demolition derby at the Tucson fairgrounds. Fun!

Well, you all missed a sub-par show.... I think seriously the best thing going for the show was Robosaurus.

Did you get the Fuji S5000 for those pics or is that still on the list for a later purchase? I'm still in the process of "cleaning" up my bazillion pics from Sun n Fun. Most of them were taken using the "continuous" mode for action shots. Shutter speed is high enough that you can see the Mike Goulian's CAP 232 has a three bladed prop. If only I had my polorization filter when I went down there.....

Why "sub par"? Compared to what?

This show felt very disorganized. The Parking attendents were having a tough time dealing with all the cars, and barely any of them really knew what they were doing. Most of the Parking was a good 40 minute walk from the flightline. The Static displays were ok, nothing spectacular. The flying was pretty good. They had some top performers and I was impressed with that. But the show was more than an hour behind schedule. The Announcers poorly ran the show, (ie: Incorrect Facts and Seemingly not aware what was next in the air). Too much dead time between acts. We are talking hour or more.

With all this negative stuff, there was a ton of good things. I did enjoy the show. I don't want to come off as Mr. Negative. I think Im just spoiled.. Ive seen some pretty good airshows before. Some shows that have stood out to me that were top notch and well run.. Point Mugu's a couple years back, and Edwards a few years back too.
