Mamma Maria's Restaurant

Italian cuisine might not be very exotic, but the service, food, and atmosphere of this place is truly one that cannot be replicated. Mamma Maria's has surprised me since the first day I stepped foot inside. It is not Sander's, don't expect an extravagant wine list or an atmosphere sprinkled with hauteur. The restaurant will be moving to the downtown area soon however. With this move, the quirky character of this place will definitely be lost. Definitely check out this place within the next three months. Get the veal marsala if you do go, its wicked!

The Pizza at this place is great! One of my teachers owns 50% of the place and brought us pizza during our final and it was great! They have a coupon going around for free garlics twists with any purchase. The only downfalls are the price is a little higher than other pizza places but that's because it is 150% better pizza but well worth it and that they close way too early for the drunks to order pizza for delivery! I do recall talk about possibly turning it into a bar/resturant and staying open later (2am), probably when they make the move downtown like TheShocker mentioned.

Speaking of Sanders...the service that three specific waiters at Sanders provide exceeds the levels of service that I will ever get at any high-end steakhouse in CA... especially John. Man, he's good. I always tip him 50%. I actually saved my Sanders receipts one year because I was curious to see how much I spent there... they added up to a little over $800 in year 2006...oops...oh well! haha

I had my doubts about this place, it was in a classroom environment where I first heard about it from the same professor. I was a little pessimistic to tell you the truth based on my experience with restaurants in this town. I was totally wrong however. The plan is to yeah, turn it into a bar/restaurant with the move downtown. It will be more a la Sanders. Thats why I say the character of this place will be lost, pretty much with that move.

Yeah, I have definitely spent my fair share of money at Sanders. Service is definitely top notch. By the way, this might be a little stalker'ish Jace, but I think you know the owner of Mamma Maria's.;)

hahahahaha... I know the NEW owner of Mamma Maria's ;)

Oh lord... everyone knows everyone's business in a small town. haha

i have been here for much longer than i care to admit and have never been there, gonna try it now. is it a "sit down" type resturant or is it cafe line?

It definitely is a great place to sit down and have a meal. That is what I have always done whenever I go there. During the day when its less busy, you usually order up front and then head to the dining room. During the evening, you are usually served on and its more like a traditional restaurant. Try it out, and if you think its not great, feel free to smack me.

mama marias is legit.

i definitely support a NON-chain restaurant, with great food and reasonable price.

when they first started they had some issues with staffing and such but it seems to have been worked out and i hope they can continue to do business here!!

What's up with people talkin' nice about something in GF??? Is there a conspiracy or something?

:D

I'll have to say I went there today and can vouch for its good taste. The place itself isn't the best looking of places, but the food is pretty good at a reasonable price.

The real question is, how is Dakota Karts doing? I miss that place... Grand Fork's premiere indoor go-kart track! :rawk:
