Malaga, Spain

Nice sleepy town. For the ER peeps on the board that haven't been there, bid the 4 day instead of the 3 day... don't get to the hotel until around 1pm so by the time you get your nap, you missed prime beach time. Very affordable layover as well... most stops had beer for 2 euro.

If I'm not mistaken isn't that area kind of mountainous-to the east?

Mahou is my beverage of choice whilst in Spain.

Doug instead of a full blown Sangria, a really nice drink in the summer is Tinto de Verano. Young red wine served with seltzer or limon seltzer. Normally when you go into a bar, they have a tap with it besides the beer taps. Served in a tube glass with 2 or 3 cubes of ice and a slice of lemon, 2 euros tops. Or they may make it old school.

When I am hope I walk to the beach and pound about 3 or 4 of them to squench the thirst.

hahah Cruz Crapo..that is what our crews always call it too! I still drink it though..doh!
I remember back on my second deployment, the ship's MWR ran out of the regular american beer when we were in Rota for two weeks of repairs on the rudders. They went out and bought a bunch of Cruz Crapo. Uugggghhh, I had the worst hangovers ever!:banghead::panic::panic:

I'm going to have to try that next trip to Spain!
