Majors/cargo hiring

When will Majors/Cargo start putting positions up
for OCC/SOC again still
looking does not have to be dispatch but any position in that group

Tough to tell. I would expect AA to post again sometime this year, but the merger will determine a lot of that. US just had a class start last week, and I am not sure what their plans are for future classes. There was talk of UA hiring again, but with the integration stuff happening there, who knows. I don't know much about what is going on at DL. And as far as the Cargos go, I haven't paid much attention there, so I have no idea there either.

I think your best option would be to sign up for indeed's email notifications. Just put in the type of position you're looking for and they'll email you daily with available positions.

THIS

Indeed does a good job of capturing openings, though for some airlines it still pays to check their sites directly, especially Southwest, which traditionally has dispatch openings posted for at most 4 hours. By the time Indeed picks up on it it might be gone.

There might still be some movement at US/AA before the Big Move, which I think is still at least a year away if not more. WN is in the middle of integrating the remainder of the Airtran dispatchers into the SWA side, but there will also be some retirements so keep an eye there. UA/CO have reached an equilibrium from what I can tell, so normal hiring there, which is to say sometimes. What I did was make a page of internet shortcuts of all the airlines' career pages and at least once a day go through them and look to see what's shaking.

Indeed is great but I have actually found more openings via simplyhired. Just my 2 cents. UPS comes up on indeed but not simply hired which is random

DL is supposed to hire this year as well.
My FAA examiner told me that DL does some crazy psych test asking stuff like "who would you kill first, your mother or father?"

Any DL dispatchers out there or anybody that's had that happen at DL that can confirm it?

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they still did that. They seem to be big on psych stuff. They certainly were about 40 years ago. The FAA guy probably hears more current scuttlebutt.

They have a behavioral test, but he is exaggerating regarding the nature of the questions. It's called the Hogan Personality Inventory.

May be indeed an exaggeration. I heard this was one asked in the Pilots psych test from an old coworker.

"After you excrete, do you look at it?"

I think they'll figure the applicant a liar if male and answered "no" on that one!
Hahaha that's hilarious! I seriously have no idea where they come up with stuff like that other then maybe trying to catch people off guard!

That's exactly what they are trying to do... They want to weed out those that they can "rattle", so to speak. At least that's what I've been told.

If you look at the tester and with a serious stern face reply " dad, but then you're going to be the next victim immediately following his demise" that would not be the right answer.

I took it and passed three times. And I "may" purposely skewed my personality to fit my idea of what DL is looking for ( for example not a partner or frequent carouser). It's pretty easy as long as you stay consistent since they ask the same question in a different form a few times. Speaking of carousing, this rum isn't gonna drink itself.

That may have been from the original MMPI...it had a question about whether your stools were black and tarry. It's since been revised.

The Hogan is easy; so is the verbal reasoning. The hard one is the numerical reasoning. Damn currency conversions!

Yes a variation of that question is on that test. Speaking from first hand knowledge.

It is a 3 part test, as Kev stated - one is the Hogan Personality Inventory, there is also a math test and a comprehension test. You have to pass all 3 to get to the dispatch interview/dispatch test.
