Sadly, it's a very inefficient airframe and engine set up. The MD95/717 is a beast for sure, but on anything other than short flights with rapid turn times, it would get its ass (which you can totally say here) kicked by the E2 and the C series.

I agree -- beyond that, it's like taking a mountain bike out on a smooth 50 mile road ride.

Boeing twisting themself into knots and getting the tariff thing done was really pretty cute on their part. And by cute, I mean rather unsportsmanlike. They don't really make a product that competes with the C-Series/Airbus A200/whatever it is now.

My understanding, and I could very well be wrong, was that they didn’t have a problem with the 100....it’s the possibility for a 500 that concerns them. If people fall in love with the 100, they’ll love the 500 (if it ever gets made) and that competes with the 737.

They've been trying to get with Embraer for quite a few years now. The C-series didn't bode well for their competition Outlook
