Made my decision

I am quite sure ATP is where I am going to go. Can someone let me know what to expect for the interview and sim evaluation. I plan on attending in Jax. and plan to start as soon as possible. What things should you bring with you? Would you suggest a different campus?

Thanks, J

The interview and sim ride are basically painless, if you've got the private stuff down--basic maneuvers, airspace, left turning tendencies, info on the plane you are currently flying. If not, spend some time going over the basics before you go in to take the written exam and sim ride--the oral interview seemed very relaxed and nothing you need to prepare for if you did fine on the written.

About campuses and what to bring, I haven't started yet so I can't help. However, you can use the search function and you'll find tons of info.

Did mine a couple months ago. Nothing to stress about. They tell you about ATP, then you take the written test (22 questions I think) and go over them. Off the top of my head some were: Vx, Vy, oxygen requirements, DFSteer, G airspace, ARROW, etc.

Checked out the planes, then went on the sim, did an instr approach. Instructor said he'd reccommend me - then you are told to call Jim (the VP) in a couple days, he'll give you a couple more questions, then you're in.

Had a good experience, learned a lot about how they operate. Don't know if they actually weed out, but I like the fact ATP has this process.

It's not really advertised, but you can do a one hour flight in the seminole rather than doing the sim check. The interview fee isnt the same however--it is $250 instead of $100.

I am pretty sure that I am going to ATP also. $250 interview fee? I think you must be fly an hour on seminole. Otherwise, it should be an 100 dollar interview. I am on my check ride prep mode for my PPL. I do plan to fly a little 152 to ARR for future interview after get my PPL. Has anyone flew into ARR yet? I can't tell where ATP is on Airport diagram?

To clarify, there are two different interview fees, depending on whether you do the interview in the sim or in the airplane:

$100 - Interview with Simulator check
$250 - Interview with 1 hour in the Seminole

Also, call ATP (800-255-2877) for directions to the ARR office.

The interview is extremely painless.. If you know what your supposed to know, you'll be fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif The sim is to basically see if your able to learn, I would think..

I was all worked up over the interview, but everyone kept telling me you'll be fine, you'll be fine.. I got there.. did the thing and I was fine. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
