Hi guys, anyone go thru the A&P program at Mt. SAC in southern CA?

If so how was it and did you find work after?

Second statement/question:

I have a B.S. in Aviation Operations and a Business Minor from San Jose State University. I was working on flight training at KRHV and I came to the realization that I more enjoy flying as a hobby than as a career. So now I am looking to get my A&P and start out working in GA and then move to a Regional and then hopefully Corporate.

How realistic and attainable is this career path? Do I have better chances of making it than pursuing a pilot career?

I understand the pay isn't all that great and I understand there are odd shifts (which is fine with me) and I understand it is still aviation which in itself is unstable. But is a mechanic gig more stable and easier to get into than flying for a living?

Thanks a lot!!!

One of my roommates had gone through the flight and ATC programs at Mt. SAC before he came to my school to get his Bachelors. I don't know that he did any of the mx classes, but he seemed to know his stuff when it came to flying.

If the tuition will not break the bank go for it. An A&P is license to learn and it really makes no difference where you get your ticket. I would personally recommend a community college or a state run tech school. Keep your costs to a minimum.

I did the Embry-Riddle thing years ago. While it was a good program and I enjoyed it, once I got out into the field I quickly realized what a waste of money it was!!!

I noticed you're from Orange. Go to OCC, their program was way better than Mt. Sac. when I attended. (2002-2004) Anyone who was serious about their classes at OCC has decent jobs now. (Including Me in Corporate Aviation) I used to want to be a professional pilot, I have up to Com. Multi- Inst. but have settled into a very nice career. I work 3 12 hour shifts, and then I'm done. I fly for fun and hopefully will be able to finish my CFI next year. I most likely have made some spelling errors as I have been working all night, changing a APU on a Citation X.
