Lufthansa jet narrowly avoids collision at JFK

I was taxiing last week in the CRJ at JFK. We were on A and from our left an Egypt Air 777 was taxiing to the ramp left to right. Ground told us that the Egypt Air would hold for us to cross. So we start going forward and so does the Egypt Air. I get on the radio "Uh.. ground he doesn't look like he's stopping. We will just hold here" Ground replies "Looks like that would be the safest option". His wing tip was probably only a few feet from actually going above us.

That's better than Chicago, where the only rules are to never stop and always give way to something bigger than you.
