Low fare carriers prices rise...

I for one definately do not mind paying an extra $25 or more per ticket if it means that the airline employees's job's are more secure and the airlines begin to make profits. On a side note, I just purchased a roundtrip ticket on AA.com for travel from KFLL (5-6) to KSAT (5-16) for $118!

If you're so noble for the cause of helping the employees, why didn't you buy a full fare Y ticket?

Not a big surprise. It was/is only a matter of time.

The only problem is that the fares cited may have existed for a moment but are no longer valid. If you price lag-fll 5/12 to 5/17 NK is a few dollars less than US. And on US you have a choice of only one non-stop flight in each direction with fares ranging from the lowest all the way to $528 plus taxes and fees.

Ain't nothing new, Chris. It's so typical of Americans. We want to keep jobs here in the US, but when Wal-Mart saves us a nickel by squeezing the producers so hard they have to send the jobs overseas, people still shop there.

And, then, we go and whine at our elected officials about why they aren't doing anything to stop those greedy businesses from shipping jobs overseas. :insane:

And then we look behind the numbers and see a strong US economy. Strong job market. Multi-national companies that are adding jobs in the US, not decreasing them. Foreign automakers and others building plants here, etc. etc., and we begin to wonder if we really ought to be listening to Pat Buchanan about the evil of doing business overseas.

I know, it's just funny on here when I see people going "They've got to raise airfares!" but then those same very people buy their $118 r/t from Istanbul to Timbuktu.

I, personally, as a consumer, hope the prices stay low (anyone want to go with me to Zurich tomorrow? $500 r/t). Professionally, I hope they go up. Realistically, I know that they will eventually find a happy medium between the two.

What's even funnier is calling consumers "stupid" for shopping lower fares.

No I'm telling you that you have a tendancy on this site to always talk trash...and I know that if I was in West Lafayette, you would have nothing to say! I was merely saying that I bought the ticket for a considerable amount less than I would have expected, but that's not to say I would complain and moan if I had to pay double that! In fact, I would have no problem paying the cost AA felt the ticket was worth. Are you so ignorant to assume that just because I got a good deal on my ticket and purchased it, that I do not care about the well being of Amercian and it's employees?

I'm not talking trash, I'm calling you out. You're speaking out of both sides of your mouth. I want fares to be higher so airlines survive. Hey look, I just paid $110 r/t!!!!111111111111~onetildetildetilde. Again, tell me why you didn't pay full fare Y if you're so concerned? Or at least twice the price, since you wouldn't complain if you had to pay that much.

But feel free to continue being a hardarse on the internet rather than present a cogent argument.

Are you guys out of karma points this early in the week already? Sheesh! Man up.

And then you look at the rapidly increasing poverty levels, the stagnant wage growth, the record middle class debt levels (as a percentage of income, not just in absolute dollars), the near 0% savings rate, and the fact that corporate profits as a % of GDP are at an all-time high and you realize the picture is a lot more complicated than you're trying to make it and that both you and Buchanan have valid arguments.

Get out more dude. Lay off the sarcasm once in a while. It comes in a lot of your posts. You misinterpreted what he meant and turned an issue of nothing into something.

I'm still getting pretty sweet fares this summer, I wanted to book before all this summer hype. I was scared of the airlines raising prices because of gas.
