Looks Like the Thunderbird's and Blue Angels are Scheduling Shows Again

Just a couple of anecdotal points here...I'm probably adding more noise than signal, but I just can't get motivated to start my work day:

The Bi-Annual Joint Service Open House at Andrews is a huge draw out here. Costs roughly $2M to put the whole thing on, I'm told. Not sure how much revenue it generates, though. I do love the show and wish it would come back, if only so I could spend more time shooting the breeze with a few Marines who fly the Osprey. I love that airplane. Pity the flight time is considered "powered lift" by the FAA.

I've seen both the Blues and the Thunderbirds...first time, Dad took me to see the Thunderbirds when they did a show at Dobbins in ATL when I was a kid. Watching that show, I was filled with questions about everything I saw. As I go to these shows as an adult, one of the things that strikes me is how many questions the kids are asking about airplanes, aviation, the military...which often leads to questions about science, engineering, physics.

You cannot put a price on that kind of inspiration. Showing a kid what is possible and working backwards from there is a powerful force.
