Looking for sponsored CFI

I know FlightSafety will sponsor someone for all three CFI ratings, but I'm curious if there are others. I've emailed several of the bigger schools offering bonuses to see if that could be used toward the CFI instead of a cash payment, but no luck so far. My wife just graduated college so my options have opened up quite a bit. I'm based in OKC, but would go anywhere for the right opportunity. I've been in touch with a few people about different jobs around the area, but being at only 270TT doesn't really get much attention. That's why I'm thinking CFI is my best shot. I'd love to instruct and I think I'd make a great CFI, but don't have the finances. Let me know if you know of anyone willing to help out a motivated CFI wannabe.

Not sure of your situation, but unless you're real uncomfortable flying from the right seat, most of the CFI stuff is just self study remembering gobs of information. If you're up to commercial standards it should only take you a couple hours in the aircraft.

Depending on your FSDO there may be the DPE fee if they are outsourcing all their rides (ours is), but costs should be minimal beyond that.
 
I wouldn't really say uncomfortable. I would say more like rusty. Ha! I haven't flown in 11 months. My last flight was my commercial checkride. I'm just thinking it would take me a lot longer to get polished up and then learn everything from the right seat. I'm not saying I need 40 hours, but maybe 15-20. But that many hours can add up and a married line guy doesn't save well.
 
I'm looking for sponsorship, but of a different kind. I knocked out CFI, CFII, MEI at american flyers with a similar kind of gap in flying.

You can get to right seat proficiency during the CFI training, being Instrument current does help though.

I'm seeing plenty that look for CFI with CFII MEI as ones they can train you up for.

Yeh FSI is the only one I see for that. Some schools like Flyers have intern programs - least any training is zero cost to you.

Any cheaper local flying clubs in the area? I'd fly with you , but I haven't been local since 2007.

Our club Mooney is down so I switched to the C310R for MEI as Initial, but from a cost perspective I wouldn't recommend that.

I hadn't flown since December CMEL but was pretty comfortable right side. You would be surprised how quick it comes back

Not flying for 11 months is probably a deal breaker for all the schools that you're talking to. Go get current and proficient again. I'm sure that'll help out with your search.
 
Well an IPC and 3 touch and goes can be done in a morning, studying the lesson plans in the pm

I'm in a similar position as the OP. Lurking here for info .
I called the company and they are looking for guys specifically for a summer training contract they won.
Also, since they are diversified, there are opportunities to fly more complex aircraft.
Lots of primary students to Solo Stage.

I'm pretty interested in this gig. Do you have inside information on it? The add does not say they will pay for cfi, it just says you have to be willing to train to be an instructor. That would be pretty sweet if they did though!

I don't have any information outside of the ad. Good catch on the wording of the ad, I thought they wouldn't make you pay for it.

Bummer. I can't find any more info on them. I live in sacramento and I'm pretty familiar with all the aviation companies around here. That one doesn't ring a bell. Especially for a flight school if they want you to get your cfi. Google doesn't reveal much either.
 
it looks like they are a flight school in Wisconsin that does aerial photography. I'm guessing they got a contract here in sacramento for the summer. After the summer the pilot would probably go back to wisconsin to get the CFI. Then I would imagine you would instruct in wisconsin. The add does not mention liking cheese as a requirement :)
 
Treasure Coast Flight Training out of KSUA is advertising on the orange site, that they "Will Help Pay For Training", the posting is for CFI positions. I e-mailed them on Friday, no response. Hope to hear from them soon.

I hope that you have better luck getting in touch with them than I did. I made several attempts to speak with their chief about doing CFI there a few months ago, but I never heard a word back.
