Hey everyone, I'm commercial and instrument rated with about 310 TT including sim, with a good portion of it multi. I haven't had the chance to fly very frequently, except to stay current, due to family and personal issues. I'd like some suggestions as to what jobs I should consider.

I would like to do but am rather short on cash atm, and am looking for what options I can get without the cfi, I understand the regionals are hurting for pilots because of the shortage would that be in the picture? Other than that I can only think of traffic watch (most require cfi though), banner towing, etc.

Well, unfortunately for you, the hiring boom of the regionals is all but a memory now (if my memory serves me correct ASA, Comair, and Skywest have halted pilot hiring). The current economic downturn signals a rather downward trend in the aviation industry as a whole- what goes up must always come down. You could possibly get into aerial photography, banner towing (although I have heard that airlines down the road frown on this kind of time building...don't quote me though), flying skydivers, among other things.Honestly, not really sure what your exact financial situation is, but would you consider a small loan to undertake CFI training. It is a great great way to built your overall knowledge of flying while honing in on your skills to a level that would probably not be matched by the above suggestions for timebuilding. Just my two cents....best of luck in building your career!! :-) Welcome to the forums btw.

There are still a few regionals still hiring low time pilots such as Eagle and Mesa. (Although they may not be the best options out there). But the hiring boom has taken a significant down turn in the recent month. Best bet is to gather funds (loans) and get your CFI, it will be worth it in the long run

Even at Eagle with those times your going to need a jet course($$$). Even then you still have to pass the interview and training program which isn't the easiest one out there. Good luck whichever route you choose.
