Looking for info on September fatal crash at Marcair Aviation - Roanoke

Charlie is one of the first CFI's in my logbook on page 1 from 2005. I didn't know him well, but could tell he was a hell of a guy and aviator. He went out of his way to help me get going and to pursue military aviation - another standup guy I'll never repay. Does anyone have any information on this crash?

I went to that school a few months before the crash to check out possibly using my GI Bill there. I had the pleasure to meet Charlie. He spent quite a while talking to me and I was impressed to say the least. Sad to hear it was him that passed.

Toejoe - thanks for the info. The site confirms my opinion of Charlie. Hopefully we can all learn from the accident. Regardless, him him and cheers to another great aviator/individual. It's all part of the business, but it's never easy.

Charlie - may you enjoy peace and VFR skies. I will always owe a debt of gratitude for your brief but significant mentorship.

And to the JC community - please post if there is a fund for the family. I have not found anything yet.
